Google Valentine’s Day logo February 14th 2008
I guess you noticed today is Valentine’s Day and just like last year Google changed the logo at the Google start page:

Clicking the logo takes you to the result page for “valentine’s day“.
Yahoo! did a similar thing with their logo. Some birds fly in, start flirting and kiss at the end:

Clicking the logo takes you to the Yahoo! Events Valentine’s Day page.
Even YouTube managed to creat a special YouTube Valentine’s Day logo:

I went looking for some previous Google Valentine’s Day logo’s and these are the ones I could find:
Valentine’s Day 2007:

Valentine’s Day 2005:

Valentine’s Day 2004:

Valentine’s Day 2003:

Valentine’s Day 2001:

Valentine’s Day I don’t know what year, but I found it on Google:

What happened with the Google logo on February 14th in 2006, 2002 and before 2001 I couldn’t find. Maybe you know?
The Live Search home page looked just the same today as it did yesterday and the day before…

Persoonlijk vind ik dat het geanimeerde logo van Yahoo dit jaar toch beter is dan dat van Google :)
Google started in 1998, and in the early years only did a few special logos – that first year, only Thanksgiving. 2000 was the first year they had a Valentine Logo, which is the Cupid one.
For some reason, their logo archive pages only have selected art. The only way you’ll find the “missing” years is if you can find somebody who embedded them, as you did with these.
Well, you got me curious, so I did some searching. Suddenly, a lightbulb went off over my head. I checked it out, and my epiphany turned out to be correct: there were no Valentine’s Day logos in 2002 and 2006 because the date overlapped the Winter Olympics in Torino and Salt Lake City, respectively. They do special logos every day during the Olympics, and thus don’t do a Valentine’s Day one.
Aren’t those Valentine Logos just out of the world? These folks at Google are way beyond Cool.
